corporate workshops
for your organisation

Genetic Choir practice is a great mirror of human interactions when working together. It is a concrete and playful activity to develop teamwork and reflect on roles and interaction processes on the workfloor.

OVER Introductie Workshops Friday Morning Sessions corporate workshops THEMA WORKSHOPS

Working in a team can be complex
How to take initiative, while also embracing the group flow? What is good leadership? How to collaborate effectively?

Built on the working practices of the Genetic Choir, we are offering training and reflection sessions on the issues that your organisation is dealing with. We can also facilitate ice-breakers for team meetings or groups who have to work together for the first time.

In our workshops, you will experience yourself and your interactions with others through improvising with your voice and creating music together. No singing experience is needed!

If you are involved in stimulating change processes on the workfloor or streamline the collaboration in existing teams, our workshops will add an experiential, embodied mode of understanding dynamics of work interactions in your organisation.

'It was wonderful to all get out of our comfort zones. Because everyone is doing it, it feels very free.'

Two examples of corporate workshops

Workshop “Swarm Improvisers”
Duration: 1,5 - 3 hours

  • as ice-breakers for meetings and team buildings
  • for teams who work together regularly or groups who meet for an intensive working period and want to warm-up the skills of effective interaction

In this workshop, you experience the autonomy of doing what you want while staying in contact with the people around you. Like a swarm of starlings in the sky, which consists of free birds but still develops beautiful patterns of collaboration, you will experience that being free comes with the responsibility of making your position clear, so that others can connect to you. There is no area of work and life where this does not apply, which is why delving into the art of improvisation is much more than a frivolous pastime: it is about tuning in with others while remaining yourself and smoothly finding your place in the whole, be it with making music, conducting a meeting or any other activity.

Practical skills that get triggered & practised in this short workshop:

trust & decisiveness
Trusting your position on the whole, and trusting that even in an initially unclear situation there will come clarity is a major skill for working in bigger teams. Through Genetic Choir singing, you will feel the synergy emerge from seeming chaos, and the power of trusting your own voice without needing to convince others.

active listening
Listen to other voices in the space. What is the specialty of their voice? What can I add to this? How not to disturb but be noticeable. How to optimise the resources of each of us? A new way of listening will take care that everyone is heard and will find their place in the whole.

'Very insightful to play with letting go of control and finding out through singing how division of roles can help in collaboration. All in all, loved it!'

Workshop "My own style of working (and relating to others)”
Duration: 3 - 5 hours

  • for warming up a new team that has to work together,
  • for teams that want to look underneath the surface of their group structures and interaction behaviours

This workshop will make you aware of your preferences and traps in your own style of working and broaden your options in working together effectively with others, in whichever role. We will use physical and playful work forms to reflect on being decisive and focussed as well as a team-player and flexible in your work.

Practical skills that get triggered and practised in this workshop:

autonomy & clarity
With freedom comes responsibility: Genetic Choir practice allows you to train that in a free interaction between team-members, clarity is key. How to make your position clear and accessible. How not to worry and being able to listen when there are several positions in the room.

empathy & availability
Feel the enjoyment of surrendering to someone else’s idea without knowing where it will lead. Practise how to be available for others without losing your own sense of focus.

choosing direction & letting go of control
Do you worry that any deviation from your approach will create havoc? Meet your fear of the unknown! Make clear, purposeful choices without the expectation that others need to follow you. Trust that the whole will unfold in unexpected ways as soon as everyone has found their purpose and direction.

changing positions without losing your strength
Sometimes, changing position is the best thing we can do. Not in order to completely let go of our original idea, but to find a new perspective, a new connection that we completely overlooked until now. In Genetic Choir training, you will find that changing position is a powerful act, not a sign of weakness, and it will transform the whole (& the team) in unexpected ways.

Tailor-made training trajectories

We can also offer deeper trajectories in which we reflect with you - in a combination of hands-on practice and analysis - your work processes through the lens of Genetic Choir swarm principles.

What is the Genetic Choir?

For more than 10 years the Genetic Choir has been looking at how creation processes work amongst groups of dedicated, horizontally organised people.

We apply swarm intelligence - the collective behaviour of decentralised, self-organised systems used in nature & AI - for composing music without a leader or conductor. Our methods and insights can be applied to any work environment that deals with the challenges of modern, horizontal organisations.

Genetic Choir practice is in essence a vocal practice, but no singing experience is needed to be part of the training. Participants only need to bring curiosity and openness to explore their voice and to experience music-making in a new way.
