This year sees the birth of a new long-term project of the Genetic Choir, which will unfold over the coming years, and has a first busy period this autumn/winter: the (Non)Corpus trilogy
will explore the intangible in both the human voice and our human beliefs.
As a taster of the voice approaches we will work with, we are doing the opening performance
of the UPDATE exhibition in Arti et Amicitiae
together with Maria Blaisse on 28 June 2019
November Music 2019
Genetic Choir will be artist in resident on the November Music festival in Den Bosch (1-10 November 2019), developing a brand new edition of the Loop-Copy-Mutate project from 2017.
Also about to start:
The House of Sounds and Song
- a project in which Genetic Choir singers will employ listening and voice improvisation skills as a form to develop meaningful contact with people who's ability for verbal contact have been impaired. We are working together with the Flevohuis in Amsterdam to train volunteers and family of people with e.g. dementia in a 1,5 year project that will be scientifically monitored for its effects.
More info about all these projects will come soon. Become a blog follower
to stay updated closely.

: One Day workshop in Breda: RHYTHM, TIMING & MOUTH PERCUSSION
A Genetic Choir workshop is musical cooking practice with improvised ingredients. Everyone can participate without prior knowledge, because all types of voices and musical preferences are welcome. But if everything is possible, how do you choose what you want to go for? And how do you do that together, in interaction and in contact with others? In this workshop you learn how to move smoothly in a kitchen full of sound possibilities and also to remain true to yourself and your own voice. We train surrender and clarity, pleasure in your own voice and that of another, and the bliss of silences.

6+7 July 2019:
THE EDGE OF LANGUAGE
When we improvise with our voices, sometimes sounds emerge which are language-like, or even very much like comprehensible words. How do we treat this moment when singers are on the verge of becoming improvising poets?
Amsterdam, both days 10:30-17:00

FRIDAY MORNING SESSIONS
current block is full, but you can inscribe for the block September-December 2019
These are regular training/composing sessions in Genetic Choir work on Friday mornings. We do it in a two-week rhythm (every other Friday) and have blocks of 8 sessions in a row, with a fixed group of people.
No specific singing background is required, but we ask you to do at least one Genetic Choir workshop first, in order for you to find out whether you enjoy the work we do. The sessions are also training ground for the professional Ensemble, so you will mingle with both new and experienced Genetic Choir singers.
